Activities for Babies and Toddlers (And Mom and Dad!)

OZ Playgroup

Weekly on Friday Mornings from 9:30 - 11 AM

Our Friday morning playgroup for ages 0-4 is a hit and with winter approaching is the #1 destination for indoor fun in Burlington. Where else can kids run and play in a space as large as our social hall! Since the group began meeting we've had over 40 families come check it out with more than 50 kids. We average around 10-20 families a week. Socialize and meet other moms and dads while your kids play with our huge collection of toys during the open playtime, then stay for fresh baked challah, juice, and a story during snack time. We will be meeting every Friday except during holidays or when OZ is closed. Check the Calendar for upcoming dates.

Note: Excellent post-playgroup naps, while not guaranteed, are "highly likely."

If you have any questions or suggestions, or would like to help organize the group please contact Peter. We are also looking for donations of lightly used or new toys appropriate for this age group. Please bring any items to OZ and leave them with Peter or Tari.

Tot Shabbat

Monthly During the School Year on Saturday from 11:00 - 11:30 AM

Tot Shabbat is our monthly Shabbat morning service for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. We meet in the upstairs classrooms with Matthew Witten and Naomi Barell to celebrate Shabbat and the monthly Hebrew School theme through stories, songs, prayer and movement. Afterwards we join the main Shabbat morning service in the Sanctuary for the singing of Adon Olam at the end of services and share in the Shabbat Kiddush with the larger OZ community. Check the Calendar for upcoming dates.

Please RSVP to Naomi if you plan on attending (though "walk ins" are welcome as well).

Sunday stories with the pj library

Monthly During the School Year on Sunday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM

In collaboration with the PJ Library of VT, the Ohavi Zedek Library is happy to once again be hosting our Sunday Stories program this year. Bring your toddlers and preschoolers to join OZ's librarian Ellen Gittelsohn during Hebrew School for a story time and fun craft activities based on the Ohavi Zedek Hebrew School's monthly theme. Then stay for the Hebrew School free bagel brunch at noon later that morning. Check the Calendar for upcoming dates.

Folk Shabbat & Community Potluck

Monthly from September-June at 6PM on Friday Evenings

Kabbalat Shabbat Folk Services are specially designed to be engaging for younger children, giving you an opportunity to expose them to Shabbat while allowing them the freedom to get up and move when they need to. Rabbi Jan and Rabbi Joshua will be playing guitar and leading us in robust singing and storytelling as we prepare to enter Shabbat. Services generally last around 45 minutes and are followed most weeks by a kiddush (juice and challah) and an optional vegetarian community potluck Shabbat dinner at Rabbi Jan's house near OZ (e-mail Rabbi Jan if you would like to know what type of dish to bring). Check the Calendar for upcoming dates.
