Thank you for your interest in our community and Ohavi Zedek Synagogue (or "OZ" as we affectionately refer to our congregation). Whatever your background or interests, we are sure that you will find ways that our community can support your individual Jewish identity. Ohavi Zedek Synagogue is a conservative/egalitarian congregation. With more than 360 families, ranging from traditional to non-traditional across the Jewish spectrum, we are a growing community always seeking new members. We pride ourselves on our commitment to traditional Judaism, while rejoicing in our diversity and inclusiveness.

Our congregation was established by Jewish immigrants to Vermont in 1885. Today we have grown to encompass and serve a wide range of Jews. We are descendents of those early settlers and we are more recent residents of Vermont. Some of us grew up in families that strongly identified as Jews religiously and culturally, some were raised in assimilated secular households, others have come to Judaism as adults. We are single and partnered, straight and gay, expressing our Judaism through a wide spectrum of observance. Many of our members live in interfaith families and non-Jewish family members are always welcome here. Whatever your background, you will find a home at Ohavi Zedek. We truly believe that our community must be a place where everyone is welcome!

We invite you to learn more about our community by of course browsing our website. If you are interested experiencing the warmth of our community first hand, we invite you to come to a synagogue event or religious service. Most events here are free and open to members and non-members alike and of course anyone is welcome to attend our services. Whether your Judaism is based in social action, adult or childhood education, youth programming, Torah, or just simply a community of friends, OZ will have something to offer you.
