Our Values

Displaying our Values

Our country simply cannot achieve the values of “justice for all” to which it aspires until we address ongoing racism in all sectors and at all levels of society.

Injustice in the last few months has spurred us to action, showing support and solidarity for our neighbors of color, and BIPOC around the country. Many in the congregation have asked what OZ is doing as a community to demonstrate our values. Now is the time for us to come together and demonstrate our values publicly. We will be launching an initiative for our community to create lawns signs and place them in the front lawn of our synagogue.

Here’s how to get involved:

  • Purchase or create a lawn sign, these are available at local hardware stores, online and can also easily be made by items you may have at home already!
  • Consider a saying that represents Jewish values and draw, paint, write or otherwise creatively apply it to your sign. We’ve started a list to help you brainstorm!
  • When your sign is done, stop by OZ and stake it in our front lawn! We are hoping to have many by the sidewalk/front entrance to the building.
