Ohavi Zedek Thrift Barn
Co-sponsored by the Synagogue Sisterhood and its Interfaith/Social Action Committee, the Ohavi Zedek Thrift Barn is a project grounded in Jewish principles of social justice. While continuing to maintain its long-established role as a fund raiser for Sisterhood, another goal of the Barn is to assist recent refugees and immigrants by initially providing them with clothing and household items at no charge. These two goals have been mutually reinforcing. Since adopting our new policy toward refugees/immigrants, our donations of clothing and household items have increased, as has the income from the Barn.
Thrift BARN Summer Hours: Mon-Fri 10:30-3:00 and Sunday's 11:00-3:30
The Barn continues to undergo changes! Stop by and check it out. Given the expanded hours and inventory, volunteers needed whenever we are open. To volunteer call Kay 862-5220 or 238-4888 . Merchandise needed: household items such as pots and pans, casseroles, dishes, silverware, and household items that make an empty apartment a home. All items must be in good condition. When donations are sorted, clothing which is torn, has broken zippers or is stained is discarded. To show our respect for our customers, we only offer clothing which we would wish to wear ourselves. Also welcome at any time are NEW cleaning supplies (sponges, dishwashing liquid, Windex, lestoil, etc.) And NEW personal hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, etc.) Although regular sizes are preferred, sample or travel sizes, such as those given by hotels are also welcome. Questions, please email Anouk or call her on 864-0218 ext. 21.
THANK YOU!
