Thank you for your interest in Ohavi Zedek (aka “OZ”). Whatever your background or interests, we are sure you will find ways that our community can support your individual identity.

OZ is an egalitarian congregation. With hundreds of families and individuals across the Jewish and Jewish-adjacent spectrum, we are a growing community always seeking new members. We pride ourselves on our commitment to balancing tradition with innovation and change.

Our congregation was established in 1885 by 18 immigrant families who made Vermont their home. Today we have grown to encompass and serve a diverse community. Some of us follow traditional practices, others are exploring innovative or alternative ways of living Jewishly.  Some identify culturally and many are creating new relationships with Judaism as adults or through loved ones.

We aim to be a safe and warm space for those who are Jewish, Jewish-adjacent, curious & allies. All ages, all identities, all abilities, all races, all economics and all ethnicities.  Single faith, inter-faith and multi-faith and seeking.  We strive to embrace tradition while shaping our changing world.

We truly believe that our community must be a place where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.

Our website provides information about OZ and our programs. If you are interested experiencing our community first hand, we invite you to reach come to an event, service or program you will find on the calendar section of our website. Most are free and open to all. Get in touch to tour our spaces and see our Lost Mural! Hebrew School or preschool visits can be arranged as well.

Whether your interest is in social Justice, culture, spiritual practice or is education or simply community, OZ will have something for you.
