Lunch and Learn: Preserving & Sharing Yiddish Literature & Culture: The Role of the Yiddish Book Center

Zvi Jankelowitz, the Yiddish Book Center’s Director of Institutional Advancement, will share with us highlights of “Yiddish: A Global Culture,” the Center’s new permanent exhibition, and explain how the Center is at the forefront of technological advances, ensuring the accessibility of Yiddish books to Yiddish and non-Yiddish readers. Zvi will share clips from the Wexler Oral History Project, a growing collection of more than 1,200 video interviews about Yiddish language and culture — and will also give us a glimpse of what the future of Yiddish looks like for the 21st Century.”
Note: After the talk, we invite those interested to discuss the possibility of an OZ sponsored trip to the Yiddish Book Center in July for “Yidstock,” the Center’s Festival of new Yiddish Music. Take a look at this past July’s festival lineup.

About OZ’s Lunch and Learns
We gather at Ohavi Zedek’s Social Hall as an in-person event from noon to about 1:15. (We are not using Zoom unless conditions change.)
A delicious lunch will be offered. Monthly speakers will cover a wide range of topics. Seating will be available for those who want to stay masked and not join us for lunch. Our goal is for everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy the talks.
The program is free, with an option to make a donation to support our programming.
