Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents Book Discussion

• Isabel Wilkerson describes how the United States is a country defined by caste. Wilkerson uses India and Nazi Germany as examples to help illuminate the role of caste. The inclusion of Nazi Germany is pertinent as they looked to United States history and laws about race when developing its laws.
• Discussion of “Caste” will be held on zoom over three sessions from 7:45-9:00 pm:
  • May 13 (Parts One and Two)
  • May 27 (Parts Three, Four and Five)
  • June 3  (Parts Six, Seven and Epilogue)
• The class is limited to 15 participants. Discussion will be moderated by Lila Shapero.
