Congregation Israel Trip Meeting
July 18, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
HEAR ABOUT PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR OHAVI ZEDEK CONGREGATIONAL TRIP TO ISRAEL IN LATE FALL 2019
INFORMATIONAL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 18TH, 7:30 pm, at OZ.
Rabbi Amy has been working with experienced Israel trip planners to put together a fascinating, in-depth 10 day visit to Israel in the late Fall of next year (2019). The tour will be led by both Rabbi Amy and expert Israeli guides.
You’ll be meeting people, and gaining insights, that would be hard to equal if travelling on your own. The tour is also being designed to be meaningful for both first-time visitors to Israel, as well as those who have already travelled there.
The aim is to offer an immersive experience, providing an inside look at issues confronting Israel today (such as settlements; Gaza and the West Bank; immigration; security; and technology), as well as visits to places and sites that are integral to our Jewish heritage (including the Old City; Yad Vashem; and Tzippori).
There will also be time to enjoy Israeli foods and beverages, with visits to markets (in Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem) and a winery, and to learn about the Israeli “art scene.”
We’ll also be celebrating Shabbat in Jerusalem, and enjoying Shabbat dinner and lunch together.
The July 18th meeting will not only give you a chance to hear about the preliminary itinerary, but to provide your input while we have time to make adjustments to the plans. We’ll also discuss possible air arrangements and accommodations in Israel — and give you some ballpark cost estimates.
Finally, we want to gauge the level of interest in offering an optional two or three day post-tour add-on which would include stops in the Negev focusing on water and environmental issues, and a visit to the historic, ancient Jordanian city of Petra, now a World Heritage Site.
If you have any potential interest in joining what promises to be an amazing trip, please try to attend the July 18th meeting. If you can’t make the meeting, let us know and we’ll email you the draft itinerary and related information, and keep you posted as our plans are finalized.
