BOOK: Peony by Pearl S. Buck [1949]
SYNOPSIS: This is the story of a culture within a culture. The conflict between the two cultures comes out as a love affair develops between two young people. Peony is classic Pearl Buck showing not only the conflict of the new and old ways but the difficulty in a society where there was no discrimination against the Jews.

Resources for obtaining hard copies of books:
-the UVM library is open to the community for a small fee [$20?] to obtain a card. Alumni have free access I believe.
-OZ library has a good selection of books.
-People may borrow from any library within their county [except Fletcher Free in Burlington if you don’t live there] with a valid library card.
-Interlibrary loan provides access statewide although it may take up to three weeks for the book to arrive.
