Musar: An Overview of Jewish Ethical Teachings
October 30, 2014 @ 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm
Developed in Eastern Europe during the 19th century, Musa is a Jewish ethical, educational and cultural movement that focuses on moral conduct and ethical discipline. As a response to social changes brought about by the Enlightenment, the movement reinforced a strong connection to the Jewish way of life, its inner meaning, and its ethical core. As we as a people continue to assimilate into the American culture, we often still face the need for similar reinforcement. This class will explore six themes of Jewish ethics, and includes both text study and opportunities for personal and societal reflection.
