SUMMARY:OLLI UVM - Endurance Through Music in the Holocaust with Lois Price
DESCRIPTION:RSVP \nExplore the history and audio clips of music that was created and played in the context of Nazi Europe. This presentation will draw attention to the historical period and to human resilience and stimulate ideas about why people living under extreme duress would pursue the art of music. A short Q&A to follow. \nAbout the presenter: \nLois Price has presented on music during the Holocaust since 2002 at the University of Vermont\, the South Burlington Public Library\, Essex High School and UVM OLLI. Her music career includes performing and teaching as a flutist. She has also taught courses in music and the allied arts at Trinity College and Champlain College in Burlington VT. She holds music degrees from Clark University and the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.

DESCRIPTION:Monthly meeting of OZ’s Board of Directors. 2024 meetings are planned to run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month. \nMeetings are held in person and on Zoom. When possible meetings include a small group meal prior to the start time. \nAll OZ members are welcome to attend open portions of the meetings. DESCRIPTION:Ohavi Zedek offers regular minyan services to meet the worship needs of our community and especially to aid those members of our community who are reciting Kaddish in memory of a recently deceased loved one or on a Yahrzeit. Services are held Sunday-Thursday evenings at 7:00 on Zoom. Ohavi Zedek’s minyan is traditional and egalitarian. Mincha and Maariv are recited at evening services when the services begin before dark\, only Ma’ariv is recited once we reach the point in the year when services start after dark. \nIf you are planning to attend a service to recite Kaddish please fill out this form to let us know so we can make sure there is a minyan present. \nClick here to access the Weekday Siddur Lev Shalem used during our evening Minyan services. \nZoom link is below under the heading ‘Website’. \nPlease make your full first and last name viewable on Zoom\, so we know who you are and can admit you.

DESCRIPTION:An Introduction to Hebrew Reading for Adults \n\nWant to begin to read Hebrew?  Want to brush up on your skills?  Join with Rabbi Aaron and Lani Ravin to learn how to read Hebrew and in particular key words and prayers. This series will also deepen your understanding of the prayers and the Israeli cultural context. There are two\, 6 week sessions: attend one or both.
