DESCRIPTION:The dying process is daunting and brings forth a plethora of emotions that are felt by all. While there are signs that indicate when someone has reached the end stages of the dying process\, the most moving indicator is called “abstract speech.” Often overlooked\, abstract speech offers an opportunity for a final connection with the departing person. Join Sarah Villanueva\, who is both Director of Beth Jacob Synagogue and an End of Life Doula\, as she explores this phenomenon. \nAbout OZ’s Lunch and Learns: \nSpeakers cover a wide range of topics. A delicious lunch will be offered\, which is served promptly at NOON. The talks begin at about 12:15pm and end no later than 1:15pm (including some time for Q&A). \nSuggested cash contribution of $10 for food can be paid on the registration form or collected at the event — but feel free to give more or less. DESCRIPTION:In this time of rising antisemitism\, two Vermont middle school students\, Josie Raynes and Avery Peabody\, are ensuring their peers understand that it was antisemitism that brought about the Holocaust. \nFor their Mitzvah Project\, Josie and Avery have joined with the Anne Frank Center of the University of South Carolina to bring a very special traveling exhibit\, “Anne Frank: A History for Today\,” to their Williston Central Middle School. VTHM is helping to sponsor their effort\, and we hope you will join us for a very special “Community Night” at the school on Thursday\, May 15th starting at 6:30pm. \nSee the flyer below for more information\, and please share it with your friends\, community members and colleagues. \n\n

SUMMARY:Minyan (Online Evening)
DESCRIPTION:Ohavi Zedek offers regular minyan services to meet the worship needs of our community and especially to aid those members of our community who are reciting Kaddish in memory of a recently deceased loved one or on a Yahrzeit. Services are held Sunday-Thursday evenings at 7:00 on Zoom. Ohavi Zedek’s minyan is traditional and egalitarian. Mincha and Maariv are recited at evening services when the services begin before dark\, only Ma’ariv is recited once we reach the point in the year when services start after dark.
