Once a refuge for freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad\, Rokeby Museum stands today as one of the best documented sites in the nation. Utilizing the most recent research and the museum’s abundant collection of artifacts\, together we’ll unpack the myths and misconceptions of the movement and arrive at a better understanding of the truth. Rokeby Museum presents a nationally significant Underground Railroad story tucked inside a quintessential Vermont experience. \nClick Here to Register and Purchase Lunch \nPlease note: Attending the program is free\, but if you’d like a vegetarian\nmeal\, lunch from Kismayo Kitchen will be offered at $15 a plate. \n\nAbout Rokeby Museum: \nFrom 1793 to 1961\, Rokeby was home to four generations of Robinsons — a remarkable family of Quakers\, farmers\, abolitionists\, artists\, and authors. Today\, the Robinson family’s home is a National Historic Landmark\, designated for its exceptional Underground Railroad history. Rokeby is among the best-documented Underground Railroad sites in the country\, one the National Park Service has described as: \n“unrivaled among known sites for its historical integrity and the poignancy of the stories it tells.” \nTelling those stories is at the center of the Museum’s mission\, which is to “connect visitors with the human experience of the Underground Railroad and with the lives of the Robinsons\, who lived on and farmed this land for nearly 200 years.” Guided by Rachel Gilpin and Rowland Thomas Robinson’s commitment to speaking truth to power\, today’s Rokeby is committed to serving as a center for the exploration and discussion of contemporary social justice issues.

DESCRIPTION:Israeli folkdance is a joyous folk art form that is easy to start and difficult to stop. It draws from many cultures and expresses itself in dances that range in complexity and speed. See this article for more information. \nJoin hosts Adele\, Lani and Mitch and a friendly friendly group of people that gathers periodically on Zoom or in person to enjoy the folkdances of Israel! \nWe mostly dance around a circle so no partner is required. We have a large repertoire of beginner-friendly dances. New dancers are encouraged to come at the beginning of the session to benefit from instruction.
