DESCRIPTION:Every night our souls go on a journey through the spirit world. We learn from the Talmud that dreams are 1/60th of prophecy and that a dream that has not been interpreted is like a letter that has not been read. Together we will discover the wealth of Jewish teachings on dreams\, dream interpretation\, and dream rituals.  \nAs part of the class each person will keep a personal dream journal (Sefer Chalomot). We are meeting in the month of Kislev\, which according to kabbalah is a time to turn within and pay attention to the deeper messages of our dreams. Kislev is also when we read from the Torah about Jacob’s Ladder and Josef the dreamer and dream interpreter. \nNo prior knowledge of Judaism is required nor do you need to be Jewish. DESCRIPTION:Tight up against the Chinese border in northern Vietnam is a mountainous\, tribal area from which\, almost daily\, Hmong girls are tricked\, drugged\, kidnapped and smuggled deep inside China. There\, they’re sold into coercive marriages and domestic\, agricultural or sexual slavery. Disoriented\, most lack the language\, means and skills to escape. Most disappear forever. \nLong-time OZ member Sue Schein\, in an illustrated talk will describe how she has been working with partners to design and launch workshops aimed at interrupting this practice\, by teaching girls how to identify and resist grooming\, negotiate their own safety and\, at times\, even effect their own escape. \nNote: this Lunch & Learn talk was videotaped by CCTV / Town Meeting TV and can be viewed on their website. \n  \nAbout OZ’s Lunch and Learns: \nSpeakers cover a wide range of topics.
