Gordon has produced an expansive\, page-turning biography that uncovers incredible\, and previously unknown\, details about Ferencz’s remarkable life as one of the 20th century’s great warriors for justice\, from Nuremberg to the first trial of the International Criminal Court. Before his death\, Ferencz stated about Gordon’s book that it demonstrates “how persons of humble origins\, such as myself\, can work hard\, dedicate themselves to higher causes\, and make an important difference.” \nBook Talk will take place in the Main Sanctuary. DESCRIPTION:A fundraiser for humanitarian aid in Israel and Palestine. A partnership between communities\, volunteers bake and sell bread in the community kitchens to benefit these medical relief organizations: \nUnited Hatzalah: first responders in Israel\nPalestine Children’s Relief Fund: medical care for children in Gaza and West Bank \nOur goal is to partner with a diverse groups of interfaith congregations on this project. This date will include Ohavi Zedek and Burlington Friends Meeting\, as well as other invited local congregations. If your house of worship church\, synagogue or mosque is interested in participating\, please contact us. \nBread (challah\, pita\, gluten-free oat) will be baked in the OZ kitchen from 12pm – 6pm and available for pick-up in the evening or the following day in Burlington or Richmond. Often overlooked by contemporary audiences\, these works illuminate our historical understanding and provide a new context for our present. \nThe program culminates with Leonard Bernstein’s iconic Chichester Psalms. VCU is excited to share this much-beloved choral masterwork with Burlington audiences. DESCRIPTION:Our fifth annual Pride Seder is a ritual that chronicles the liberation of LGBTQA people\, much like the Passover Seder\, which retells the story of the liberation of the Jewish people. \nRegister Here \nJoin a diverse gathering of Vermont LGBTQA Jews\, Jew-adjacent folks and allies to celebrate our coming out of bondage with songs\, prayers\, and an unusual and poignant seder plate. People of all ages are welcome. \nEvent History: The first Pride Seder took place in 1995\, using a Haggadah written by Ray Schnitzler and Susie Kisber\, of the Berkeley Queer Minyan. Copies of the Haggadah travelled to B’nai Jeshurun in New York\, Sha’ar Zahav in San Francisco and many other communities around the world. A partnership between communities\, volunteers bake and sell bread in the community kitchens to benefit these medical relief organizations: \nUnited Hatzalah: first responders in Israel\nPalestine Children’s Relief Fund: medical care for children in Gaza and West Bank \nOur goal is to partner with a diverse groups of interfaith congregations on this project. This date will include Ohavi Zedek and Burlington Friends Meeting\, as well as other invited local congregations.
