DESCRIPTION:“Pick up your round challah for Rosh Hashanah and support refuah shlema in the Middle East!”\nA fundraiser for humanitarian aid in Israel and Palestine. A partnership between communities\, volunteers bake and sell bread in the community kitchens to benefit these medical relief organizations: \nUnited Hatzalah: first responders in Israel\nPalestine Children’s Relief Fund: medical care for children in Gaza and West Bank \nOur goal is to partner with a diverse groups of interfaith congregations on this project. This date will include Ohavi Zedek and Burlington Friends Meeting\, as well as other invited local congregations. If your house of worship church\, synagogue or mosque is interested in participating\, please contact us. \nBread (challah\, pita\, gluten-free oat) will be baked in the OZ kitchen from 12pm – 6pm and available for pick-up in the evening or the following day in Burlington or Richmond. SUMMARY:Reverse Tashlich Waterway Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 4th OZ-led community waterway cleanup at Burlington’s Barge Canal. \nAbout Reverse Tashlich: \nThis program is a recent add-on to the Jewish traditional Tashlich\, an annual ritual in which some Jewish people throw crumbs of bread into a body of water during the Rosh Hashanah holiday. The physical act of tossing crumbs is metaphor for the mental process of seeking to toss away bad habits and improve ourselves in the coming year. \nBurlington’s ‘Reverse Tashlich’ began in 2022 when\, we join 240+ other communities in this new traditional of cleaning up a body of water. \nReverse Tashlich is about more than just cleaning up trash—it’s about reclaiming our connection as Jews\, to the natural world\, to each other\, and to our shared responsibility to protect the planet. \nThis event is appropriate for people ages 10 and up\, and will include group clean up activities facilitated by community members who have been involved in the Barge Canal area management. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants and sleeves. Bring bug spray and work gloves if you have them\, or we will provide them. \nPlease arrive a few minutes before one o’clock and park in the parking lot at Dealer.com at 1 Howard Street. Walk across the street to the Barge Canal\, look for the registration table and come over to sign the Release of Liability form. We will hold a group opening circle at 1 PM. \nRSVP here

DESCRIPTION:A fundraiser for humanitarian aid in Israel and Palestine. A partnership between communities\, volunteers bake and sell bread in the community kitchens to benefit these medical relief organizations: \nUnited Hatzalah: first responders in Israel\nPalestine Children’s Relief Fund: medical care for children in Gaza and West Bank \nOur goal is to partner with a diverse groups of interfaith congregations on this project. This date will include Ohavi Zedek and Burlington Friends Meeting\, as well as other invited local congregations. If your house of worship church\, synagogue or mosque is interested in participating\, please contact us. \nBread (challah\, pita\, gluten-free oat) will be baked in the OZ kitchen from 12pm – 6pm and available for pick-up in the evening or the following day in Burlington or Richmond. DESCRIPTION:Israeli folkdance is a joyous folk art form that is easy to start and difficult to stop. It draws from many cultures and expresses itself in dances that range in complexity and speed. See this article for more information. \nJoin hosts Adele\, Lani and Mitch and a friendly friendly group of people that gathers periodically on Zoom or in person to enjoy the folkdances of Israel! \nWe mostly dance around a circle so no partner is required. We have a large repertoire of beginner-friendly dances. New dancers are encouraged to come at the beginning of the session to benefit from instruction.
