SUMMARY:The Practice of Presence: Jewish Mindfulness for Everyday Life
DESCRIPTION:In the midst of busy lives and constant demands\, our Jewish tradition offers practices that help us slow down\, listen deeply\, and reconnect with ourselves\, one another\, and the divine. \nJoin Amanda Silver for an introduction to Jewish contemplative practice. Together\, we’ll explore mindfulness and silence in Jewish tradition through guided sitting and walking meditation\, contemplative text study\, and chant. This 2½-hour workshop invites us to engage our hearts\, minds\, and bodies in Jewish contemplative practice. \nWhether you are curious about Jewish mindfulness\, new to meditation\, or looking to deepen an existing practice\, this workshop offers an opportunity for quiet reflection and connection in community. No experience with meditation or Jewish contemplative practice necessary – just your curiosity and a willingness to be present. All are welcome. \n  \n\n  \nAmanda Silver Bio: \nAmanda Silver is a leadership and organizational development consultant\, executive coach\, and Jewish mindfulness teacher who helps people cultivate greater clarity\, presence\, and purpose in their work and lives. With more than 25 years of experience developing leaders and organizations in Jewish\, nonprofit\, higher-education\, and social change fields\, Amanda brings together evidence-based leadership practices with the wisdom of Jewish contemplative tradition. \nAmanda is a graduate of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality’s (IJS) Jewish Mindfulness Teacher Training Program and is trained as a Jewish Spiritual Director. She served on the Board of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality for nine years and has spent years deepening her own contemplative practice through Jewish study and silent retreat. Amanda holds a B.A. in Comparative Religion from the University of Rochester and an M.S. in Positive Organizational Development and Change from Case Western Reserve University. She currently serves on the board of Kol Ha’Emek: the Upper Valley Jewish Community. Amanda lives in Hanover\, NH with her husband and two children and enjoys salsa dancing\, skiing\, and diving into a good book.
