ChaiLights – Group Action Day: Hebrew Holy Society Cemetery
October 2, 2022 @ 10:15 am - 11:30 am
FreeOctober 2, we will meet at the Hebrew Holy Society Cemetery at 319 Patchen Road at 10:15 am. We will do some light clean up work with other volunteers from the community, and learn about Vermont Jewish history. This event will be hosted by Shimmy Cohen, who has cared for OZ cemeteries for years, and Jason Stuffle, a preschool parent who during the pandemic has become a DIY gravestone cleaner (we’ll see the progress of his work on one of the oldest burial sites in the cemetery). Note that there are two cemeteries on Patchen Road, and the map location on the event listing has the exact cemetery location. Park in the circular drive near the flag pole. Bring gloves, rakes and a tarp if possible.
If the weather is not accommodating, we will meet at OZ and do a project in the kitchen.
About ChaiLights
This fall, OZ will be serving bagels, coffee and tea, with fun/social group experiences for adults!
Beginning September 11th, ten weekly ChaiLights gatherings will give you a chance to learn a little, taste a little, share a little, maybe even schvitz (sweat!) a little while connecting with others.
Each gathering will start off with food and open conversation, followed by a unique experience that will engage and inspire, let us create and improve the world. This project’s vibe is fun, social and low-pressure, with activities lead by community volunteers. Its a great fit for Jews, Jewish-adjacent and those who are just curious.
Thanks to a program sponsor, individuals or couples who sign up by September 7th and attend at least 3 dates will receive a Hanukkah Kit (worth over $50) for free.
Our planned activity list for the series is below (Subject to Change):
Plus, we have space in the schedule for content and activities based on participant feedback.
This program was created and lead by volunteers and staff of Ohavi Zedek. Partial funding is provided by a generous grant from:
