Lunch and Learn // Vermont Confronts Climate Change: A Preview of Upcoming Legislative Initiatives

As the Vermont Legislature prepares to convene in early January 2027, join us to hear Johanna Miller and Evelyn Seidner, both on the staff of the Vermont Natural Resources Council, a statewide environmental advocacy group. They will discuss state climate change-related legislative initiatives likely to come up this session related to: clean energy; climate action; transportation (including public transit); and resilience. Miller and Seidner will also offer suggestions for how OZ members can support state policy efforts addressing climate change.

About Our Speakers:

Johanna Miller is VNRC’s Energy & Climate Program Director. She also serves as the coordinator of the Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network (VECAN), the statewide network of 120+ town energy committees and the partners who support them. In 2020, Johanna was appointed to the 23-member Vermont Climate Council, which is charged with crafting a plan to meet the climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience requirements of Vermont’s Global Warming Solutions Act. Johanna is a graduate of the University of Vermont

Evelyn Seidner serves as VNRC’s Outreach & Campaigns Coordinator. She graduated from the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources where she received a BS in Environmental Studies and a minor in Equine Studies. Born and raised in Vermont, Evelyn has a long-standing passion for the environment.
