Lunch & Learn
June 16, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
JOIN US FOR OUR FINAL LUNCH & LEARN PROGRAM OF THE 2021/22 SEASON
THURSDAY, JUNE 16 at NOON via ZOOM
to learn about two important but little-known special days in American history
Margaret K. Bass, PhD, Special Assistant to the President for Diversity and Inclusion, St.
Michael’s College, will present:
“Two June holidays you might not know about: Juneteenth and Loving Day.”
Juneteenth (June 19), a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African
Americans in the Confederate states, has been celebrated annually in various parts of the
United States since 1865. Loving Day (June 12) honors the 1967 Supreme Court decision to
strike down laws in several states banning interracial marriage.
For the balance of this season we are continuing to present our luncheon programs virtually.
Thank you for bearing with us under COVID restrictions which have prevented us from getting
together in person for so many months!
Have a wonderful spring and summer and watch for information about future programming.
