JHS@OZ Mitzvah Day 2025!
January 26 @ 10:15 am - 11:45 am
Here it comes! The most important day of the whole school year! This very special day will focus on food insecurity with guest speaker, Peter Carmolli, Director of the South Burlington Food Shelf. MOST importantly, our most senior students share the great work they are doing with their mitzvah projects and then we will ALL get a chance to participate in a hands-on mitzvah project – making food for the OZ G’mach Freezer and learning how to turn food scraps into good eating! I encourage ALL PARENTS to attend and participate.
Schedule:
- 9:15-10:15 – regular classes K-7
- 10:15 – 11 – Mitzvah Project presentations and Guest Speaker
- 11-11:45 – Hands on Mitzvah Project – G’mach Freezer Cooking
In addition, we are asking families to support the South Burlington Food Shelf by making a shelf stable food donation. Please plan on having EACH of your students bring in one of the following items by Mitzvah Day. (We’ll be collecting items in the library.)
- Baking items like: sugar, flour, cake mixes
- Cereal
- Pasta Sauce
- Cooking oil
- Ketchup
- Peanut Butter
- Rice
- Baked Beans
