Sukkot invites us to step outside, gather together, and celebrate the blessings that sustain us. As we continue this joyful festival, we give thanks for the harvest, the beauty of creation, and the gift of community.

Together we’ll celebrate with prayer, music, and time in the sukkah – continuing traditions that have connected Jewish communities for thousands of years. Because the first day of Sukkot falls on Shabbat this year, we will not perform the ritual of taking and waving the lulav and etrog during Saturday’s service.

What Makes This Celebration Special

The Lulav & Etrog
One of Sukkot’s most distinctive traditions is taking the lulav—a bundle of palm, willow, and myrtle branches—together with the etrog, a fragrant citron, and waving them in every direction. Because Sukkot Day 1 falls on Shabbat this year, we do not perform this ritual on Saturday. Join us on Sukkot Day 2, Sunday, September 27, when we’ll take up the lulav and etrog together and everyone will have an opportunity to participate.

The Sukkah
Following the service, we invite everyone into our beautiful sukkah for a meal, conversation, and community. Built with a roof of branches, the sukkah reminds us that life’s greatest blessings are often found in one another, around a shared table, and beneath the open sky.

Community
Sukkot is sometimes called “the season of our rejoicing.” It is a holiday of hospitality, shared meals, and joyful gathering. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or meeting someone new, we hope you’ll linger after services and enjoy time together.

Bringing the Tradition Home
Congregants are invited to order their own lulav and etrog sets through Ohavi Zedek as part of High Holiday registration. You’re also welcome to use one of the congregation’s communal sets during the service.

How to Attend:
High Holiday services are open to everyone. Services are free for Ohavi Zedek members, young adults under 30, and children. Tickets are required for other adult guests. Please register in advance. Everyone who registers will receive a confirmation email with access to our digital Machzor (High Holiday prayer book) and, where available, a link to our livestream.
