Tashlich
Sunday, September 13 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Tashlich (pronounced tash-LEEKH, meaning “you shall cast”) is a meaningful Rosh Hashanah tradition that invites us to reflect on the year behind us and symbolically let go of the regrets, mistakes, and burdens we’d rather not carry into the year ahead.
Following Rosh Hashanah by the Lake, we’ll walk together to Burlington’s waterfront for this simple yet powerful ritual. Traditionally, people cast breadcrumbs into flowing water. To help protect Lake Champlain and its wildlife, Ohavi Zedek uses small pebbles (provided) as an environmentally friendly way to honor this beautiful tradition.
Whether you’ve participated in Tashlich before or this is your first experience, we’ll explain the tradition as we go. There is no right way to participate—simply come with an open heart and a willingness to begin the new year with hope.
As with other High Holiday programs, trained security personnel will be present to help ensure a safe and welcoming experience for everyone.
