About Poetry: Lost and Found

We will engage five poets, Sappho, Simonides (both classical Greek), John Newton (British, who wrote the song “Amazing Grace”), Yehuda Amichai (Israeli) and William Carlos Williams (American). The first three poems are very short; the Williams poem is several pages. We will read several Amichai poems, some short, some modest, none long. Poetry, death, loss, finding: all will be our focus. No knowledge of poetry is needed: These are all, all, accessible poems. They tell us a lot, and are enjoyable to read. Use this Zoom link to join.
