Ohavi Zedek Synagogue is seeking a part-time Custodian to join our team. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment in our Synagogue and Preschool.
The person will work five days a week (Monday – Friday) for 20 hours per week. Hours to be agreed upon—could be early mornings, late afternoons or early evenings. This position reports to the Synagogue Facilities Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Daily cleaning of Preschool classrooms and hallways, including
- Trash removal from each room
- Vacuuming and mopping floors
- Cleaning tables and other areas
- Daily cleaning of bathrooms, including cleaning toilets, sinks, doorknobs, other surfaces
- Other duties include periodic cleaning of windows, door glass, air conditioners and other areas
- Additional duties and projects assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year experience with custodial work
- Reliable transportation
- Able to work independently with limited supervision and to be part of a team
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and spend the majority of the shift moving, including bending, stooping, standing, walking, and using hands to operate cleaning equipment
- Able to read, write and understand English and follow both written and oral instructions
- Courteous and effective communication and collaboration
- Able to handle multiple demands and prioritize effectively
- Regular, predictable and reliable attendance
- High school degree or equivalent preferred.
Salary will be $18 – $19 per hour.
