Richard Finkelstein is a member of Ohavi Zedek who spent his first 30 years living in Montreal (1949 to 1979). After over 40 years largely away from the city, Richard and his wife Linda now spend about a third of their time in Montreal, a city with a Jewish population of about 90,000.
What was it like to grow up Jewish in Montreal? What changes have occurred over the past 40 years? Join Richard for an insider’s account of Jewish life in Montreal, including a look at Jewish food traditions and places where you’ll want to eat when visiting.
About Our Speaker:
Richard Finkelstein is a clinical psychologist practicing in Burlington, and a member and past Chair of the Vermont Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee. Richard has lived and worked in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was a senior clinician with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and then at the Center for Mental Health in Newton, New Jersey, before moving to Vermont with his spouse Linda in 2014.
Richard loves spending time in Montreal. He also enjoys skiing at Mad River; cooking; classical music; spending time with his grandchildren; storytelling; having a smoked meat sandwich; and following the Montreal Canadiens hockey team.
