Special Kiddush Discussion about The Song At the Sea (Exodus 15) by Visiting Scholar Judith Taylor
February 8, 2025 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
Through the centuries, rabbis and scholars have noted the striking arrangement of the words of The Song at the Sea (Exodus 15) but there have been few commentaries about the final three lines of this epic poem, even though these lines provoke intriguing questions.
The Song at the Sea is an ancient example of concrete poetry, and broadens the scope of what we understand as midrash.
She is thrilled to lead this discussion while attendees enjoy a shabbat kiddush (meal). Her hope is to supplement the pleasure — and nourishment! — of the meal with some spirited reflection.
Judith Taylor is a teacher, writer and visual artist with a particular interest in the questions and stories that lead us home.
